Anti-ageing Treatments for the Hands and Chest

Our hands often give our age away and may even make us look older than we are. Hand rejuvenation treatments are the answer to minimising the tell tale signs of aging. Age spots, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, visible veins, and a loss of volume all contribute to the aging of our hands. At the Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic, we have a range of hand rejuvenation treatments that are quick and effective.

The same type of treatments for the hands can be applied to the chest/ décolletage. The option chosen depends on whether it is loss of elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles or sun damage and age spots that are the predominant symptoms.

At the initial consultation, you will be advised as to which are the most appropriate treatments to make your hands and chest look and feel youthful, Your appointments are never rushed. We will take time to explain the procedures to you, make a personalised assessment of your needs and agree a treatment plan to suit you. Follow up reviews are included if you have any concerns or worries about the treatment. The consultation is usually 30 mins and is £100, which is deducted from injectable treatments within 3 months.

Laser/IPL

A laser is a high energy beam of light that can precisely transfer this energy into certain tissues within the skin. These beams of light are produced in one wavelength at a time, and can vary in terms of their strength and the type of tissue that they can target. Intense Pulsed Light systems differ from lasers in that they can deliver hundreds of wavelengths (or colours) in each burst of light. Certain filters are used to filter out the unwanted wavelengths, so that they work in a similar way to lasers causing heat damage to the particular skin problem. Ideal for the treatment of sun damage and age spots, usually only 1-2 treatments are needed for the desired results. Treatment is usually around £150 per session for hands.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers work by injecting hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally produced in the skin, into areas of the hands and neck which have depleted levels and may look as though they need filling or are experiencing the effects of ageing. These long lasting injections, administered by a very fine needle, give a natural plumped and youthful look by providing support and structure to the skin.A course of 1-3 treatments of Restylane Vital Skin Booster, Juvederm Hydrate, Profhilo or Radiesse will rehydrate and add volume to your hands for a youthful appearance. Treatment is between £250 to £650 depending on the number of sessions.

DermaRoller Treatment

Medical skin needling through the use of the DermaRoller works as an anti-ageing treatment by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother skin after treatment. Tiny sterile probes puncture the skin in order to induce the production of collagen. The probes enter the skin vertically without tearing or scratching the tissue, this triggers a wound healing response and new cells to be formed.A course of three DermaRoller treatments will help minimise the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Medical Microdermabrasion

Medical Microdermabasion can help reduce light pigmented lesions and help smooth the skin surface bringing you younger looking hands. Microdermabrasion is a skin exfoliating treatment which can be used to improve the appearance of the skin. It works by gently removing the outer layer of skin, leaving the skin looking softer, brighter and stimulating new cell growth.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels involve applying an acid-based formula to the skin to keep it soft, smooth, and supple. Our team of experienced medical skin experts, led by our Consultant Dermatologist, will advise on which type of chemical peel would benefit you most, as well as how many peels you would require. A course of 3-6 treatments is typically recommended for more youthful hands.
